Freedom from the Law

ARE CHRISTIANS FREE FROM THE LAW?

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, ‘Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree’:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith;

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ have put on Christ.

Galatians 3:13-14; 16-18; 26-27

The new covenant which Christians are partakers of is God’s Covenant to Abraham [Galatians 3:13-14, 16-18].

God’s promise to Abraham was that his seed would receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit [Genesis 22:18a, Galatians 3:13-16].

Christ is the seed of Abraham [Matthew 1:1-17].

When you believed the Gospel of Christ [1 Corinthians 15:3-4], you were baptised into Christ [Galatians 3:26-27] and became part of Abraham’s seed.

When you were baptised into Christ, you received Christ’s righteousness [1 Corinthians 1:30], were declared righteous by God [Galatians 3:24-27] and received the Holy Spirit [Ephesians 1:13].

Consequently, when you became part of Abraham’s seed through faith in Christ, you received the Holy Spirit and therefore became a partaker of God’s Covenant with Abraham [Galatians 3:13-16].

[God] who also hath made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth but the, but the spirit gives life;

How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:6; 8-9; 17

When you became a partaker of God’s covenant with Abraham [2 Corinthians 3:6, Galatians 3:13-14, 16-18], you received the righteousness of God [2 Corinthians 3:8-9, Romans 3:21-22].

The Holy Spirit testifies to the righteousness of God [2 Corinthians 3:8-9].

The Holy Spirit testifies that you are free from the Law [2 Corinthians 3:17].
