Spiritual Circmcision (Part 1): You are not Your Flesh

WHAT IS SPIRITUAL CIRCUMCISION?

For by one Spirit are we all baptised into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:13

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ have put on Christ.

Galatians 3:26-27

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:17

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Colossians 2:10-12

The centre of your person is your spirit.

When you believed the Gospel of Christ [1 Corinthians 12:13], your spirit was baptised into Christ [1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27].

Your spirit was made in union with Christ [1 Corinthians 6:17]. You have a spiritual union with Christ.

The union between your spirit and Christ, was made on the cross.

Your spirit died with Christ and was raised with Christ [Colossians 2:12].

When you died with Christ, you died to the sin in your flesh [Romans 6:2-3].

Therefore, you died to your sinful flesh [Colossians 2:11] and effectively, your sinful flesh was killed to you [Romans 8:3]: your body of sin has been destroyed [Romans 6:6].

Therefore, any acts of sin done in your sinful flesh are no longer accredited to your account by God [Romans 7:17, 20].

Consequently, you can no longer sin before God [Ephesians 1:4] and God no longer finds you guilty of anything [Romans 8:1].

When you believed the Gospel of Christ, God gave you Christ’s righteousness [Romans 8:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21].

When God killed your sinful flesh to you [Romans 8:3], this gift of righteousness was sealed [Romans 4:11].

Therefore, you remain permanently righteous before God [Romans 5:1], because God gave you Christ’s righteousness and that righteousness is sealed [Romans 8:3-4].
