Spiritual Circumcision (Part 3): Freedom from the Law is Not Antinomian

FREEDOM FROM THE LAW IS NOT ANTINOMIAN

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Galatians 3:24-25

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Romans 7:6

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Galatians 3:11-12

When you believed the Gospel, your spirit was baptised into Christ [Galatians 3-26-27].

You also had your sinful flesh cut off, through your death and resurrection with Christ [Colossians 2:11-12]. This is spiritual circumcision.

Since you have the gift of righteousness by faith [Romans 5:17] and you’ve put off your sinful flesh [Colossians 2], then your righteousness is sealed [Romans 4:11, 5:1].

Therefore, you are permanently righteous before God [Romans 5:1], and do not need to keep the Law to please God [Romans 3:28, 8:7-8, 8:13-13].

When you died with Christ, you died to the Law [Romans 7:4].

Therefore, God has delivered you from the Law [Romans 7:6] and you are no longer under the Law [Galatians 3:24-25].

Consequently, you have been set free from the Law [Galatians 5:1], and the Law is now not of faith for you [Galatians 3:12].

Antinomian means “against the Law”.

Since God is not against the Law, and He has declared that you are not under the Law [Romans 6:14, 7:6, Galatians 3:24-25], it is not antinomian for you to refrain from putting yourself under the Law.
