WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN’S IDENTITY?
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14-17
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
If you believe the Gospel of Christ, you are a child of God [Galatians 3:27].
You are a son of God and therefore an heir of God [Romans 8:14-17, Galatians 4:7].
Since you are an heir of God, you have an inheritance from your Father God.
This inheritance in Christ [1 Corinthians 1:30] includes:
- Forgiveness of sin by God [Colossians 1:12-14]
- Being declared righteous by God (justification) [Romans 8:29-30]
- Being made holy by God (sanctification) [Acts 26:18]
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Ephesians 2:19
You are a member of household of God, which is the church [Ephesians 2:19, 1 Corinthians 12:27].
Therefore, your identity is a son or daughter of God and a member of the household of God.
